The reduction in crime in the Bradford District has been significant.  In his latest annual report the Chief Constable for West Yorkshire points out that the West Yorkshire Force has been recognised as being one of the most improved, with 9,200 fewer reported crimes than the previous year, whilst detection rates and actual number of detections have increased. The Bradford district has itself had significant achievements this year. Violence against the person has fallen dramatically, by 15% (more than 1700 incidents) in the year prior to the last reported data, and this is a considerably greater decrease than has been witnessed on a national scale. Sexual offences have also decreased at a more significant rate (10%), whilst there are fewer robberies per capita than the national average. Motor vehicle theft fell by 9% in the year prior to the last recorded data.
