“Where shall we find somewhere nice to live?  How will I get to work, how long will it take and is there a good school nearby for our children?"  In our experience these are some of the key questions facing people moving to work in an unfamiliar location.  Despite the fact that prices in the area are still rising, people will find that, compared to London and the South East, house prices are still very reasonable (on average, around one third of London prices and just over half of the prices in the South East, according to the Land Registry) and that will mean that a home, convenient both for commuting and the very best schools in the area, will be eminently affordable.  And at the lower end of the market, prices are such that many who currently can only afford to rent will be able to get a substantial foot on the property ladder.
